Each month, we’re proud to shine a light on one of our Chamber members—celebrating their unique story, contributions, and the passion they bring to our local community. This month, we’re excited to introduce you to Junior League of Peoria, an organization of women committed to advancing women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration and training.
What motivated you to start your business?
The Junior League of Peoria was founded by a group of visionary women who believed in the power of trained volunteers to drive lasting community change. From the beginning, our mission has been to advance women's leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. That legacy continues today through initiatives like our current Mental Health Initiative. Our projects Healthy Minds, Healthy Neighborhoods and Supporting Student Success (S3) (partnered with the Heart of
Illinois United Way) address mental health awareness, neighborhood engagement, and educational equity for youth. The League is also passionate about training our members through our General Membership Meetings, leadership opportunities, and sending members to training conferences offered by our parent organization, the Association of Junior Leagues International.
Why did you choose to join the Peoria Heights Chamber of Commerce?
Our recent increase in events, collaborations, and member participation in Peoria Heights inspired us to officially become part of this vibrant community by joining the Peoria Heights Chamber of Commerce. We’ve hosted member socials in the Heights and launched our popular Spring Fling Sip & Stroll fundraiser right here in the heart of the village — and the response has been incredible. We’re excited to build stronger relationships with local businesses, residents, and fellow community leaders as we further our mission and expand our impact through programs like Healthy Minds, Healthy Neighborhoods and S3.
What’s an interesting fact about your business that most people don’t know?
Many people don’t realize the lasting legacy the Junior League of Peoria has had in the region. Over the years, we’ve played a key role in launching or supporting more than 90 community projects with many community partners — including beloved institutions like the Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum, Family House, and the Race for the Cure (More than Pink Walk). Today, we continue this tradition of impact through our current Youth Mental Health initiative which focuses on addressing pressing local needs.
What's your favorite thing about the Heights?
The energy! Peoria Heights offers a unique blend of small-town charm and forward-thinking development. From local boutiques to community festivals, there’s a welcoming spirit and a strong sense of connection that makes it a joy to be part of — both for League events and personal time.
Any final note or special promotion you would like to share?
