Kiwanis Club of Peoria Heights

Kiwanis helps kids around the world. Our Kiwanis club looks out for our community and the Kiwanis international organization takes on large-scale challenges, such as fighting disease and poverty. Our Kiwanis club is generous with its time. We are creative with our ideas. We are passionate about making a difference. And we have fun along the way! Our Kiwanis club focuses on changing the world by serving children, one child in our community at a time. To reach more people and have a greater service impact on our community, our club sponsors the Peoria Heights High School Key Club. Key Club members learn how to lead and stand for what’s right through service and volunteerism. In partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Peoria Heights, high school students are making a positive impact as they serve others in their school and community. Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it’s located. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. Our Kiwanis club fulfills the Kiwanis mission by serving our community through Kiwanis Community Service Projects. Current Highlights of our club: Cycle Into Spring - Cycle into Spring is free to attend. The event is to help kids get their bikes safely tuned up for summer. We have local bike technicians present to ensure proper tune ups. We have been able to give every kid, who has attended the event, a free bicycle helmet. There's also an obstacle course, bike giveaways, and much more! Bar Stool Open - This is our current main fundraising event. We partner with local Heights businesses, who each build their own putt-putt hole. Teams of four enjoy a day of putt-putting around the Heights while raising money for the Kiwanis Club of Peoria Heights. Held in June, it's one of the most anticipated charity events in Peoria Heights. St. Thomas Food Pantry - Our club has been able to donate food to the pantry, which distributes food to families in Peoria Heights. Peoria Heights High School - Along with sponsoring the Key Club at the high school, we also awards two students with scholarships for their future schooling. For more than a century, Kiwanis has created opportunities for children to be curious, safe and healthy regardless of the community in which they live. When you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed and thrive, great things can happen.
